About the Instructor
Mike Duff has owned and operated Group 6 Training since 2010. Mike retired from on-duty police work after 32 years but remains active as a lead instructor at a Regional Police Academy. Serving as an instructor since 1994, he has extensive experience teaching firearms, tactics, and Texas Use of Force laws. Mike’s experience has established him as an expert witness in Use of Force cases.
Mike's continuous evaluation of how training translates to performance in lethal encounters provides his students with techniques compatible with human reactions to stress. Students benefit from his current position as lead academy instructor, and vast on-duty experience, as they receive the most current knowledge of how to apply skills during stressful situations. These insights guide Mike's training materials on and off the range.
His years of conducting training for Police and SWAT officers helps develop his instruction based on psychological conditioning principles as current teaching methods are adopted. This prepares students to apply these concepts to real life situations safely and confidently. In other words, what is taught and how it is taught, is based on decades of experience as a practitioner and teacher who has personally applied these tactics in the real world.
What We Offer
Group 6 Training is a firearms training business serving the DFW Texas area. We offer scheduled group classes and private lessons by appointment. Training is offered in all aspects of firearms related self-defense instruction. Our clients range from first time shooters, lawfully armed citizens, officers, armed pilots, SWAT operators and Instructors. With experience teaching large classes comprised of students with diverse skill levels, we have a unique ability to provide individual attention during group classes. Training is provided on handguns, carbines, and shotguns. Group 6 Training provides the Texas certified License To Carry class. We also provide classroom seminars on mental preparation for lethal force encounters, corporate lectures on active shooter and Law Enforcement Agency training consultation.
