Armed Citizen Encounter -Simulations
What would you do if…
You find yourself in a robbery?
You are present during an active shooter?
You experience a home invasion?
Armed citizens have two things in common, a sincere hope to never have to use their gun in real life, and an uncertainty of what they would really do in that situation. These two statements also apply to most Police Officers as well. This unique training allows you to experience some of the behavioral reactions to lethal threats as you discover what you would actually do in response.
Immediately following your encounter, You will receive instant feedback. Experienced instructors respectfully debrief you on what you observed, the legality of your choices, and suggestions on your tactics. In addition to being an essential step in the learning process, the debrief shows attendees first-hand how stress affects perception and memory.
RBT - Reality based training, is the most essential and at the same time inaccessible element of preparation. This training is provided in a safe and controlled environment using industry standard equipment and safety protocols taught by certified ‘force on force’ instructors. We use two categories of Reality Based Training to achieve different goals. The methods can be thought of as One-Way and Two-Way.
Force on Paper or Force on Role Player designates exercises where only the student uses marking cartidges. They can be used against targets or role players. In the oneway process role players may be armed with blanks which do not expel any projectiles. While role players need to wear all protective gear, students only need eye protection. Traditional instructors often overlooked the value of this appication.
Force on Force Training
The term force on force means the bad guy shoots at you and you shoot back. All participants are equipped with marking cartidges and all must wear full protective equipment. Shooting is much different when the target moves, talks, and potentialy, shoots back. The training equipment provided consists of firearm conversions which cannot chamber lethal ammunition. They fire non-lethal marking cartridges.
These can sting a bit, similar to paintball or airsoft. No firearms or weapons of any kind ar permitted in the training area. Redundant safety searches will be conducted. Protective equipment including helmets, face masks, neck & groin protectors are provided. Students must bring clothing and gloves so there is no exposed skin during scenarios. In hot weather this should be removeable. Loose clothing or two layers abosrbs the impact well.
In this class, mistakes are actually learning opportunities.
